There’s a line on Honey, the latest album from Nashville-via-NYC songwriter Samia, about Aspen Grove, a collection of 40,000 trees in the plains of North America, all connected by a single expansive root system. There’s no stronger metaphor for the audience the 25-year-old empathy engine has been generating since she began releasing music seven years ago. Her songs, her fans, her friends: one enormous, interconnected ecosystem. Honey, comprised of eleven new moments of catharsis, is by and for that organism. Set for release on January 23rd 2023 via Grand Jury Music, the album was recorded at North Carolina studio Betty’s –- owned and operated by Sylvan Esso’s Nick Sandborn and Amelia Meath, frequent touring partners of Samia’s. It was produced by Caleb Wright, part of the team that helmed Samia’s breakthrough 2020 debut The Baby, and a founding member of one of Samia’s favorite bands, The Happy Children. It features some of her nearest and dearest friends: Christian Lee Hutson, Briston Maroney, Jake Luppen, Raffaella. Its songs were surreptitiously road tested for her devotees while opening for Lucy Dacus, Courtney Barnett, and more. The end result is what Samia calls simply “a real community record.”
On their EP entitled perfect, MANNEQUIN PUSSY’s new songs burst forth from the sprawling months of social isolation & internet-fueled anxiety. The band rages about the practice of condensing your daily life into a manicured stream of images for social media. What happens to the social impulse when everyone you love or even like is leveled into a set of pixels. “It was a really weird psychological experience, being bombarded by images of other people constantly when you are not around a lot of other people,” vocalist Missy Dabice says.
After spending most of the year 2020 apart from each other and everyone else, the members of MANNEQUIN PUSSY decided to book studio time and work together in person again. What came out of that compressed session time were some of MANNEQUIN PUSSY’s most furious, incandescent songs yet. The Philadelphia based band teams up yet again with producer Will Yip to satiate fans with perfect, the EP follow-up to their critically acclaimed 2019 Epitaph debut Patience (Pitchfork Best New Music, sold out US tour, and “one of the best rock releases of 2019” according to Paste Magazine). “We just figured if we forced ourselves into this situation where someone could hit ‘record,’ something might come out,” Dabice says. “We’d never written that way before.”

In one of the most powerful comeback stories in recent history, THE GHOST INSIDE make a triumphant return the stage in Los Angeles at Shrine Expo, in 2019. With the 5000 capacity venue selling out in mere minutes, the show as moved to it’s parking lot, and selling over 8000 tickets by the end of on sale day.
THE GHOST INSIDE will release Rise From The Ashes: Live At The Shrine via Epitaph Records. This live concert recording is from the band’s 2019 sold out comeback show in Los Angeles, CA in the parking lot of The Shrine.
On an early morning in November 2015, THE GHOST INSIDE was involved in an accident that claimed the lives of their driver, the lives of everyone in the other vehicle, and resulted in multiple injuries for all of the band members. Jonathan Vigil (vocals) suffered from a fractured back, ligament damage, and two broken ankles. Zach Johnson (guitar) has since had 13 surgeries for a femur injury. Andrew Tkaczyk (drums) ultimately lost his leg. The future of the band was very much up in the air throughout 2016, as everyone struggled to recover.
The road to recovery was both mentally and physically extensive but THE GHOST INSIDE were determined to get back to doing what they love. Nearly four years later, the band did just that, returning to the stage July 2019. Originally meant to take place at the historic Shrine Auditorium, tickets sold out so quick that the gig had to be moved to the parking lot, selling double the venues capacity. Over 8000 people witness this return to the stage. The accident will always be a defining moment for THE GHOST INSIDE, but never what defines them.

Carole King's Tapestry is the rare record that plays in your head the moment it's title, cover art, or songs are mentioned. Ranked the 36th Greatest Album of All Time by Rolling Stone, it is the singersongwriter LP you'd bring to the proverbial desert island if you were limited to one choice. Indeed, one reason Tapestry endures-apart from the flawless songwriting, earnest deliveries, and eloquent performances-owes to the naturalness of the production and songs. King's articulations on love, conviction, friendship, place, sadness, and companionship ring true because there's no doubting their meaning, intent, or sincerity. Tapestry makes you feel. It compels you to get closer to the music and the musicians performing.
Commemorating the record's 50th anniversary, mastered from the original master tapes, cut at 45RPM, pressed on MoFi SuperVinyl at RTI, and limited to 10,000 copies, Mobile Fidelity's UD1S box set remains faithful to original album producer Lou Adler's vision of making King (and not just any pianist player) appear seated and playing just for you. The wider grooves allow more information to reach your ears, and MoFi SuperVinyl means the noise floor is as absolutely low as possible. The results mirror what went down in A&M Studios: Lean, simple, direct, and so nakedly real the sonics evoke what might be heard on a professional demo tape.
There's only one Tapestry, and this collectible version weaves together all it's elements in incomparable fashion.Feel the Earth Move: Mobile Fidelity UltraDisc One-Step 180g 45RPM 2LP Box Set Is the Consummate Version of Tapestry and Puts Carole King in the Room. Ranked the 36th Greatest Album of All Time by Rolling Stone: Includes 'You've Got a Friend,' '(You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman,' and 'Will You Love Me Tomorrow?'
Swiss firebrand alchemists Zeal & Ardor are excited to announce forthcoming, self-titled new album.
Hissing and seeping justifiable rage from every pore - yet not an unrelenting musical battering - the 14-track opus was recorded by Marc Obrist and Manuel Gagneux at Hutch Sounds and mixed and mastered by Will Putney at Graphic Nature Audio. All songs were written by the softly spoken, multi- lingual frontman Gagneux, with some German lyrics intermixed with the English.
Gagneux declares, “With the self-titled record, we have arrived at where I imagined this project should sound like. It’s the longest we’ve worked on a single record and I believe it shows. The most important thing for an album of ours to do, is transport you instantly into our mood, our world. Even though this might not be the one you might expect from us, this record certainly delivers on that front. We had time to hone in to what we think makes us interesting and what sounds we would like to explore through this we have found our home.
Home is burning. Welcome home.”
Following up on 2021’s highly acclaimed Hologram EP, the rebooted lineup— vocalist/guitarist Oliver Ackermann plus drummer/vocalist Sandra Fedowitz and bassist John Fedowitz (both of Ceremony East Coast)— delivers an overclocked set of futuristic electronic punk music encoded with punishing industrial rhythms, swirling voltage-starved guitars and unclassifiable auditory annihilation.
Across thirteen tracks recorded in seclusion throughout the nihilistic absurdity of the coronavirus pandemic, See Through You is proof-positive that the group hailed as “The Loudest Band in New York” is still finding new ways to push the needle deeper in the red.
When the world came to a halt, Jim Ward couldn’t stop moving. He’d just released a reunion album, Trust the River, as the frontman of Sparta when the pandemic hit, and as tour dates dried up, Ward returned to the studio. A year later, he debuted his raucous solo record Daggers and now he’s offering up yet another Sparta album to the world.
The resulting collection of songs were entirely written on keys in what Ward considers an effort to stretch musical muscles he wouldn’t otherwise have had the expanse of time to indulge in. Boldly self-titled some 20-odd years into Sparta’s career, the album serves as a kind of reintroduction to the band, what Ward calls “a fresh slate.”
He recorded the song at Red Bull Studios in Santa Monica, where for the first time in his long career, Ward had a state of the art recording space to himself, and an engineer able to help him enact his vision. The rest of the album was self-produced at Ward’s El Paso studio, Crowded Heart.
We’re celebrating the 30th anniversary of the debut album from legendary hip-hop collective The Pharcyde with this exclusive RSD Essential 2-LP set of Bizarre Ride II The Pharcyde, pressed on clear with yellow + purple splatter vinyl.

After much enthusiasm that helped foster the band’s self-titled 2020 EP, My Kid Brother are branching out themselves. MAD HAPPY WEIRD SAD, recorded with producer Eric Palmquist (Thrice, Bad Suns, Mutemath), builds on their EP’s polished, hooky rock with heavier riffs ("Roots") and thicker grooves ("High Society"), colorful and quirky arrangements, lyrics that span stalker tales to unfiltered love songs, and choruses that punch with a newfound intensity ("Shoulders").
